1980 Records & Tapes is a co-op of music fanatics climbing the ladder from the underground, emerging into the vacuum of the floundering music scene. They are a minor label for major music and have released music from Chicago to K-zoo to Australia. 1980 Records & Tapes pushes the hegemonic and scene-controlling 'garage rock' out of they way for lo-fi bedroom recordings and perfectionist freak-outs of audio engineers.

Founded in 1989 by Superchunk's Mac McCaughan and Laura Ballance, Merge Records is home to bands ranging from mainstream (Arcade Fire, Spoon, and the Mountain Goats) to obscure and important (Neutral Milk Hotel, the Magnetic Fields). Merge will selling new CDs, LPs and 7-inches from their catalog, including records from artists performing at Pitchfork Festival this summer: Caribou, Ex Hex and Waxahatchee.
